Clinton said the Haitian government and its international backers hope to create 150, 000 to 200, 000 jobs nationwide over the next two years.
Many of those jobs will come from projects to rebuild roads and shore up erosion-prone hillsides.
"I'm just trying to organize this process and drive it faster," Clinton said during a break in the tour, standing in the blazing midday sun alongside a smiling President Rene Preval.
Clinton's three-day visit, which ends Wednesday, is the former president's second trip to Haiti this year. He accompanied U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to Port-au-Prince in March, two months before being named to a special U.N. envoy
I hope he changes the situation for the haitian people .Now in Santo Domingo the Gorvenment impose big taxes on the poor women who, s try to make endmeat for their family by trading and I heard they have ask them to go and Mr President Preval not even do anything to save those merchants even Commerce Dept for Haiti not aying a word.Ihope some one address that to Clinton the situation of those who trvel to Santo Domingo to excell

Haiti now has 'best chance to escape legacy of poverty': Clinton
Former US Bill Clinton has welcomed his new role as UN special envoy to Haiti.
Speaking in Paris where he is on a fund-raising tour for the Clinton Foundation charity, the former US president says that conditions to turn around the desperately poor, wartorn country have never been so good. Images and soundbites.
Rush Limbaugh to Bill Clinton - Avoid Haitian Prostitutes:
Dear friend Roland, do you Know who has made this comment when clicking on this above picture.
I want his name and I want the Haitian media join me to put this bastard on blast. We don't need no apologie from ignorante.I'm happy to see Bill Clinton with my beautifull people posing; but I'm very unhappy to listen to a pig talking in the background about my country like that.We can't accept no one to continue to disrespect us anymore. We have to use our media (on youtube) to attack him the same way he does it and destroy his journalist career.

Bill Clinton to be Named UN Special Envoy to Haiti
Independent journalist Jeremy Scahill examines how Clinton helped to destabilize Haiti in the 1990s.
While Clinton and his advisers publicly expressed their dismay with the US-backed 1991 coup that ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, they simultaneously refused to support the swift reinstatement of the countrys democratically elected leader and would, in fact, not allow Aristides return until Washington received guarantees that, one, Aristide would not lay claim to the years of his presidency lost in forced exile and, two, US neoliberal economic plans were solidified as the law of the land in Haiti.
The International movement of protectorate is taking place "a pas tortue" which causes by a group of irresponsible so called leaders.
I have no problem with Mr. Clinton been appointed as Special Envoy.
I think that the situation will improve at least 1% until we in the diaspora have a chance to take over this country means that we are not only improved the financial situation but to be accepted in all aspects of Haiti.
My problem is a group of senators and deputies are doing nothing for the people and waiting for a pay check monthly, and the of people are dying.
Haiti could not get a better lobbyist than Bill Clinton.
Since the country had been looking for a lifetime leader, instead of recycling the Duvaliers, Preval, or the Aristide, this is a golden opportunity for the citizens of that parcel to grab Bill and make him president for life of the land. That will make the land livable for the first time in history, having a leader, a thinker, a promoter, an organizer, unselfished, an entrepreneur, for the common goods, not just a minority, or ownself.
Just imagine a modern Haiti under Bill and his teams, instead of the present puppets.
First and foremost, the country is in the state that it is because of its own people and also because of other countries coming in and deteriorating it. Haiti is not the poorest in the nation.
they make us seem that way so they can come in and take advantage of all the good that we have. they make it seem that we do not have anything good to offer when indeed we do. we they show us in the movies, they show you that other countries come in and use us as their place of business for drug trafficking and everything else. I am just about sick of hearing about how poor we are. you have these presidents who come in, and they act like they care and when they get into office all they care about is themselves.
they take all the money and go live happily ever after with their family while the rest of the country is suffering.
Yea, it's nice to have President Clinton as an Envoy and what exactly does that mean?
you have places in Haiti, where its own residents are nto even allowed to step foot in. so what are you telling me?
it's liek everyone wants a piece of the pie because they realize how good the pie is but the haitia people dont realize how good their own pie is. We are "LA PERLE DES ANTILLES" !!!!! we took our indepedence before all the others.
why do you think they want to see us fail?
you guys really need to sit and go back on your history and start acting and start rebuilding what our people fought so hard for. it really saddens me.
i beleave that the best think evever happen haiti bill clinton for me the was best president in uas also love haiti hatian people ok that best new i am 100/100/happy for that p.s
The U.N. will name Bill Clinton its special envoy to Haiti, according to his spokesman, in a move that could capitalize on the ex-president's years of involvement with the impoverished nation to burnish the international body's image there
As a nation we do need all the help and support from inner and the outside world to bring Haiti back to where it was. A nation with pride and dignity and will always be "La perle des antilles".
I do believe that God is willing to help Bill to make changes in Haiti but we all have to work and cooperate together to bring this change in Haiti.
