We need to go to the causes of child trafficking

The gap between the rich and the poor is becoming increasingly larger.

Lack of local prospects, unemployment and a large number of children make parents susceptible to the promises of money or education for their children given by the traffickers.

The young boys and girls leave their village to escape the miserable living conditions.

What measures can be taken to prevent child trafficking?

The key to fighting trafficking is to stop it from being profitable through strict law enforcement, confiscation of profits of traffickers and increased protection (and reduced vulnerability) of children.

Understanding risk and vulnerability factors and putting in place ways of recognizing these in children and their families – and then working to reduce or eliminate their vulnerability – is another important way to protect children from trafficking.

The reason why people are taking advantage of these children in haiti is because there are a lot of money to be made and these people have no human dignity.

They will do anything to make money.

What is the annual turnover in child trafficking?

According to UN organizations, apart from the trade in weapons and drugs, trade in human beings has developed into one of the most lucrative illegal growth markets.

The UN reckons that the yearly profits are somewhere in the region of seven billion dollars; other estimates are considerably higher.
