Haiti News Media > Haiti News > Haitian Presidential Palace As A Result Of The Devastation Caused By Haiti Earthquake, The Haitian National Palace Was Severely Damaged.
One of the more striking images that has emerged to put the damage in perspective is that of the presidential palace in Port-au-Prince laying in ruins.
The pictures and video from on-the-ground reports in Haiti following the magnitude 7 earthquake are truly heartbreaking. But it is difficult to imagine the full extent of the damage to that Haitian Presidential Palace and its capital, Port-au-Prince, in particular.
The worst earthquake in 200 years - 7.0 in magnitude - struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The initial quake was later followed by twelve aftershocks greater than magnitude 5.0. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from shantytown homes to Haitian Presidential Palace.
