Commissioner Claudy Gassant resigns. A few hours after declaring he would not resign, Claudy Gassant has capitulated. In a letter to Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis, Commissioner Claudy Gassantsubmitted his resignation.

The difficulties encountered in carrying out my duties as Commissioner of Government near the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince now force me to present my resignation. Mr Prime Minister, justice, government priority, could be strengthened by a better functioning of the Ministry of Justice and the judiciary and the police authorities' acceptance of their role as auxiliaries of Justice. Hoping that these considerations will guide the government to work better in the implementation of a healthy and equitable justice, I ask you to accept, Mr. Prime Minister, my patriotic greetings

The Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince, Claudy Gassant Me, relinquished his post on Monday after about two years past the floor of the Civil Court.
Me Gassant aurait remis sa démission au Ministre de la Justice, Me René Magloire, après une rencontre au palais présidentiel dans la matinée avec le Chef de l’Etat, René Préval, en compagnie du Directeur Général de la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH), Mario Andrésol. Me Gassant had tendered his resignation to Minister of Justice, Mr. Rene Magloire, after a meeting at the presidential palace in the morning with the Head of State, René Préval, accompanied by the Director General of Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH ), Mario Andrésol. Lundi après-midi, la nouvelle n’avait pas encore été annoncée officiellement par la Primature (Siège du Premier Ministre).
