In Ancient Greece, the term "Meteque" represents the stranger, some one from another city. This song Le Meteque by Georges Moustaki is a classic one, a song that has been in the public domain for quite a while but has never lost its original beauty.
There are few things that never get old. Most of the songs created by Moustaki meet that criteria. For instance a song such as Le Meteque tends to live forever.
Moustaki sang songs in French, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Spanish, English and Arabic. He married at twenty and has a large family in France, Israel, Brazil and Venezuela.
Georges spoke Italian at home. In the street, he spoke Arabic. At school, young Moustaki learned and spoke French. His parents were very attached to French culture and put him into a French school, along with his sisters....more about Georges Moustaki >>>
It's clear that few things got never old.
I always wonder why people consider musics/songs as too old to be listened to, while they stay as yong as the heart of composers/singers and authentic artists will never be too old to sing because their hearts will never get old.I will always listen to that song. Thank you G.Moustaki !
